The inaugural HIT (Heavens Inspired Triumph) Awards were held on the night of 31st July with 7 major categories and the honorary awards of service to the Kingdom. The event started a few minutes past 8:00pm at the Kampala Serena Hotel with a performance from Sandra Suubi of the Airtel Trace Music Star competition fame. She, as always, sung soo powerfully the theme song from the movie Selma giving it a rendition of her own. Our MCs for the night, NTV Uganda’s Brian Mulondo with Amanda Tukwasibwe from the Watoto Church news dressed for the event.
The first performer of the night was Kimera who to our surprise did not perform either Gwe Wange or Slow Down. Of course, he did an amazing job.
The Award for Fine Artist of the year went to Bright Ntaki. This was presented by General Elly Tumwiine who is an artist in his own right.
After a performance from the Miracle Centre based Proclaim Kids who had a very successful concert this year, Olivia Zziwa of Mission 3:16 was announced winner of 2015 HIT TV Personality Of The Year.
In her acceptance speech, Olivia said that the award belongs to every single nominee in her category.
Power Fm presenter was pronounced winner of the 2015 HIT AWARDS Radio Personality of the year by Fagil Mande a renown Ugandan education expert.
This award was handed over by Dr Margaret Kigozi, before Power Fm was announced best Radio station.
When Power Fm was announced Radio station of the year, Beat Street DJ took this opportunity to take a selfie on the HIT AWARDS 2015 stage.
The above category was one of the tightest ones with Daisy Ejang, Kimera, Brian Lubega and Solome.
Pastor Robert Kayanja was honored for his evangelistic missions in Uganda and the whole world. The award was received on his behalf by Pastor Arthur who gave a moving speech.
Finally but certainly not least, the 2015 HIT AWARD for Lifetime Achievement was offered to Watoto Church pastors Gary and Marilyn Skinner for their service to the people of Kampala, Uganda and many nations. The Award was received by Pastor Franco Onaga from Watoto Church.
For an inaugural edition and in comparison to some of Uganda’s awards both in the mainstream and Christian fraternity, this was a well organised ceremony. We therefore leave you with a request to leave your thoughts here.
