After a long season of communicating to you about the Live Again Concert, it finally happened on Sunday the 24th of April, 2016. Being sponsors ourselves, we were at Silver Springs Bugolobi a few minutes to the event to catch up with some of our friends in the media, artistes and managed to watch the final rehearsal. Thereafter, came the before-the-event picture-taking moments. We knew that the show would be a great success and that is exactly what happened.
The night kicked off with a performance from B LYRE, Kyo Yamawe. Next was a short poetry session, then came the Look Look Gospel singer, Jennifer Mirembe. She sung a new song as well. This one had words like, “Send down the fire” and it’s production (especially beats) were legit. Our official DJ for the night, Byg Tim [@bygtimUG] tweeted saying, quote “This jam is hectic.” It was hectic indeed.
The night was still young but Ruyonga came on to perform his Ride song and then went into Muhulire. At this particular point in time, he was already in the crowd. The stage was set in the middle of the hall with VIP tables taking central place and ordinary seats placed around to give everyone a clear view of the stage. Power Fm provided the sound. It was crystal clear. No glitches at all. The lighting was simple but perfect. People turned up in large numbers and seemed to have had a great time during Live Again Concert.
Holy Keane Amooti perhaps gave the most energetic performance of the night. The house was literally on fire. Solome Basuuta, the Queen of Love gave the most vocal performance for the night while a one Leviny was a complete opposite in terms of mastery of her craft.
Other major surprises for the night included Levixone and Robinsan, both of whom were loved by the crowd. Kimera, who came on in the second half of the show after Solome performed a song that reminded the audience that God cares and, is up to something, although we may not see it in the physical realm.
Baroness the main act of the night gave a highly spirited performance that got many on to their feet to join in her songs. The lyrics were projected on two screens set, one on the left and the other on the right hand sides of the stage. Her mission was clear. Her songs were simple and easy to sing along to. Some of the most memorable moments were when she sung Live Again, did a rendition of “In Jesus’ Name” initially performed by Darlene Zschech and One By One. She also did a song titled Angels from her Shine album which she launched in 2014 and followed it up with deeply an anointed song of thanks, Thank You. Then came, Agnus Dei.
During the break before the second set, Comedian Pablo was introduced to bring more joy into the house. He also auctioned a Baroness CD for Shine album which was given to youngest child. In Pablo’s words, this child had beaten all of us in buying a CD at an expensive price of 500,000 shillings at an early age of 9 months.
There is so much to talk about from Live Again Concert, like the introduction of a One By One Dance, and a challenge on stage between six people on stage to imitate the dancers, a singing challenge between men and women, which the gentlemen won and so much more. It was fun. It was certainly worth more than what we had paid for, and the dinner for the VIPs was very sumptuous.
Special thanks go out to Tangaza Events management because everything was spot on, Power Fm for being sponsers and providing sound, Milnam were main sponsors too, as well as Vine Fellowship and Ug Gospel Life.
